Welcome to My Playground: Where Passion Meets Technical Wizardry
I’m a jack-of-all-trades DevOps engineer with a knack for juggling multiple programming languages, frameworks, and tools. My playground is a melting pot of technical expertise, where I experiment with various programming languages, including Bash and Go and website hosting to further my experience as a DevOps engineer. The result? A unique blend of infrastructure management, deployment, and tweaking – a never-ending quest to optimize and improve.
Freelancing
I’m interested in doing some freelance work especially when it comes to:
- Apache Pulsar
- – hosting of, operations, troubleshooting performance and bottlenecks
- AWS
- – I’m well versed in the major AWS services including EKS
- Kubernetes
- – So you deployed your apps in your shiny new Kubernetes cluster, but can’t figure out why things are getting stuck or a simply not available? I’ve been deploying and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters for a number of years now. I won’t claim I have experience every single problem there is all the while I have come across and solved many
- CI/CD
- – this is bread and butter for any DevOps role. At some point during my time as DevOps I have at leasted touched all the major CI/CD products. I’m not an expert in any single one, but I’m, pretty confident I can figure out most pipelines problems
- data storage
– so your small business is now generating more data and you are needing to store it all, but you running into high costs associated with cloud storage. You are tempted to buy a cheap NAS, load it with cheap HDDs and be done with it? Having to deal with TBs of data from my wives photography business, I have a pretty good understand on storage and all the problems that come with it. Do you have storage limitations and would like some advice? Reach out. Also check out my write up on the NAS I’ve built, but most importantly how I’ve analysed its performance: Budget home NAS performance analysis
About me
This is my playground and it isn’t just about coding; it’s also a haven for various hobbies that bring me joy and relaxation. You’ll find articles on cooking recipes, tips, and tricks that will make your taste buds dance with delight. Who knew that the art of cooking could be so closely tied to infrastructure management? The parallels between crafting a delicious dish and building a scalable application are striking.
For those with a keen eye for detail, I’ve also shared my experiences with comparing forged postage stamps with real samples. It’s a fascinating world where the lines between reality and forgery blur. Who knew that the art of philately could be so closely tied to DevOps? The attention to detail required to spot a fake stamp is no different from the scrutiny I apply when reviewing infrastructure configurations.
When I’m not geeking out over code, you can find me cycling through the great outdoors or stargazing on a clear night. There’s something therapeutic about the rhythmic motion of pedaling and the vast expanse of stars above – it’s a reminder that there’s more to life than just code.
And, as a handyman-in-training, I enjoy taking on projects that challenge my problem-solving skills. Whether it’s fixing a leaky faucet or building a deck, I find joy in creating something with my own two hands. In an era where decent workmen are hard to come by, I’m proud to be a part of the DIY movement.
Sports: Where Competition Meets Passion
Of course, no playground would be complete without a section dedicated to sports. As a fan of cricket, F1, and rugby union, I live for the thrill of competition. The Black Caps are my team of choice in cricket, while I’m always cheering on the All Blacks in rugby. And as a neutral spectator in F1, I’m in it for the close racing – the suspense, the strategy, and the sheer speed of these magnificent machines.
